Magodo Community Football Club
A volunteer-run club for the Magodo community: structured training, a selected first team, and a competition season starting this month. Every member is registered, accountable and has an equal voice.
Training sessions
All sessions are held at Magodo Community School, Jubril. Tuesdays and Thursdays are the place to develop your game; Saturdays are the main ball for our more experienced players.
Late means arriving after teams are chosen and the first set has kicked off. Late arrivals do not play that day.
First team selection
We are building a first team on merit. Our in-house competition is the proving ground: the coach watches, trims the squad and picks the players who represent the Club.
Ability-based
Saturday scrimmages decide who plays. Not everyone will make the squad straight away, and that is by design.
Room to grow
Developing players are advised to train on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Players who reach the standard move up; the coach reviews progress along the way.
Coach decides
The coach controls the game and the players: team selection, tactics, playing time and on-pitch discipline.
Matches and competition
Our in-house competition runs from late October through November. More details on groupings and fixtures will be announced soon.
In-house league
About six teams in a league and knockout format, played at Magodo Community School.
Guest teams
We are inviting one or two outside teams to join and raise the level of competition.
Stats from January
Goal scorers and assists from Saturday games will be recorded and published each season.
The referee controls every game. Leaving the pitch without telling the referee, or doing so in aggression, can mean no more play that day.
A growing community
Magodo CFC is more than a team sheet. Players, parents, supporters and local businesses all have a place here.
Giving back
Members have cleaned and repaired school structures, including the gate. We want to keep looking after the ground we play on.
Open to everyone
Football for all ages, races, genders, religions and abilities, in a safe and disciplined setting.
Transparent
Proper book-keeping, a monthly financial statement and an annual general meeting every year by 30 July.
Growing up
We are working toward registering as an NGO so we can partner with organisations that want to invest in local football.
